Mahmood Fazal, host of Mont Icons, is now hosting a five week Thursday night radio show called Surrounded.

SURROUNDED is a 5-week show that attempts to make sense of what our media chooses to elevate, why and how. Hosted by the ultimate trio, Jess Lilley, Mahmood Fazal and Jack Latimore sit down every Thursday night to pull apart and re-piece together the whirlwind that is the Australian media news cycle. Together, they read between the (head)lines of trending topics in public discourse and attempt to make sense of what the media choose to elevate, why, and how.

Jess Lilley is a Melbourne based, award winning journalist, broadcaster and Founder of The Open Arms. Jess is compelled to create lasting positive impact within Australian communities and culture through her work within the media landscape.

Jack Litmore is the Senior Editor for News Online at NITV, and the Executive Producer and host of NITV’s podcast, Take it Blak. He is Australia’s most prolific and powerful voices in Indingenous journalism as a Goori (Birpai-Dunghutti) writer, and winner of the inaugural John Newfong Prize for Indigenious affairs reporting.

Mahmood Fazal is an award winning journalist who has contributed to The Monthly, The Saturday Paper, VICE, Al Jazeera, The Guardian, i-D and Noisey. In 2019 Mahmood was awarded Young Writer of the Year at the Mumbrella Publish awards, and in 2020 his audiobook published on Audible, No Gangsters In Paradise was awarded the coveted Walkley Award for Media Diversity. He is currently the host of Litmus Media podcast Mont Icons.
